The Sacrament of Matrimony signifies the Reality of God that is Unity. A Man and a Woman give of themselves completely to the other and form one family. It is a bond that nothing is to come between, for it signifies the bond that God has made with Humanity.
Obviously we take marriage seriously, and persons are to not enter into this life long bond without preparation to ensure they are truly free to make this bond, and they understand the nature of this bond.
Couples must contact the priest or deacon who will witness their marriage in sufficient time to complete the parish preparation program, and must do so a MINIMUM of six months prior to a wedding. In fact, do NOT set the date or make reservations until there has been a conversation with the parish.
All requirements should be completed at least six months before the wedding date.
The preparation for marriage includes three complementary components:
1. One initial and one concluding session with the parish priest;
Participation in one of the Marriage Preparation Programs;
3. Personal sessions with the parish priest or staff member.
