Posada de Pastoral Juvenil

December 17, 2021 @ 6:30 pm

Pastoral Juvenil Invite by Maripaz Ramos

The Pastoral Juvenil will celebrate its Annual Posada Juvenil on December 17, 2021.

Posada means ‘lodging’ or ‘inn’ and is a celebration honoring the birth of baby Jesus. It was created by the first missionaries in America, as a re-telling of the story of how Mary and Joseph were looking for a place to stay in the days leading up to the birth of Jesus.

Our Posada has various beautiful moments. We begin our posada by praying the rosary, then we go door to door singing the Posada, and their search for shelter is re-enacted. After this, we share a traditional and delicious food.

Other highlighted moments are, the Pastorela, which represents the appearance of the angels to the shepherds and the difficulties they faced in reaching the manger to worship the newborn. Also, another beautiful moment is the breaking of the piñata. The posada’s piñata differs from a traditional birthday piñata. The difference is in the shape and meaning. The posada’s piñata is in the shape of seven-pointed stars, which represent the seven capital sins. The breaking of the piñata and the candies that come pouring out, represent all the gifts that Jesus brings us with his birth; including himself, our greatest gift.

Young adults are invited to attend.  We would be delighted in you sharing this beautiful and meaningful tradition with us! Please see flyer for further details and information.
